Adobe XD

Adobe Xd

Introduction

Among Adobe’s creative cloud collection of premiere editing software, Adobe XD is for creating mock UX/UI designs. With this software, you can build comprehensive mobile/tablet or website layouts. Additionally, XD can bring your visions to life with prototyping capabilities, allowing you to simulate a working version of your app or website without needing any code.

Background

First announced in 2011, Adobe XD was introduced at the annual Adobe MAX conference as Project Comet. Released in 2016, Adobe XD hit the market with the intent to streamline the front-end designing process for websites and apps.

Process

To get your feet on the ground with designing using Adobe XD, Adobe has put together a comprehensive step-by-step guide that will walk you through design, prototype, components, and collaboration.

Beyond this great quick start guide, Adobe also offers additional tutorials to help you learn how to design more complex layouts. In the table below, we picked a few noteworthy videos/articles you should check out.

Additionally, Adobe has a great resource called XD Ideas where they compile great current, topical articles about UX/UI. If you’re looking to learn more about how to create effective design choices and learn a bit more about what’s going on in the world of UX, this is the place for you.
