Introduction
Photoshop is Adobe’s premiere photo editing software. Designed to help you create beautiful images, graphics, and digital art. Meant as a companion application for other Adobe Creative Cloud software, such as Illustrator.
Background
Photoshop was first created by Thomas and John Knoll in 1987. The following year, 1988, the Knoll brothers sold the license for distribution to Adobe. The first version of the application required more computer memory than the average personal computer had at the time. This was thought to hinder Photoshop’s success on the market. It wasn’t until 1995 that adobe fully purchased the rights to Photoshop for an estimated $34.5 million.
Process
Photoshop is an extremely powerful and versatile tool that can be useful for many different projects. Because of this, it can be daunting to start using! To help with this, Adobe’s website has a variety of awesome video tutorials to help get your feet on the ground and get you comfortable with the tools, as well as help familiarize you with the overall workflow and best practices of the application.
